    • The Asia-Pacific is a dynamic region that represents approximately fifty percent of global GDP and accounts for about forty percent of world trade.
    • In the midst of the changing dynamics in the region’s architecture, international relations in the Asia-Pacific are characterized by both cooperation and competition.
    • The Council on Pacific Affairs addresses economic, political, and security developments in the region and delves into the pacific islands’ nations role in the Asia-Pacific region.
    • The Council on Pacific Affairs is engaged in a range of research on Asia-Pacific regional issues. Our research emphasizes policy analysis and recommendation as well as the dissemination of information to stimulate informed public debate.
  • Our essential missions:
    • Observatory: Carry out monitoring missions at the regional environment & inform through “the eyes of others”.
    • Analysis & Recommendations: Develop strategic recommendations and ensure a Pacific presence in regional and international debates.
    • Capacity Building: Train and build a network of young leaders dedicated to shaping the future prosperity of the Pacific region.
  • To achieve this, CPA must:
    • Enrich the Pacific debate through a multidisciplinary approach covering all the dimensions of regional relations,
    • Interpret the Pacific world, by illuminating the balance of power and/or cooperation between the different traditional or more recent actors,
    • Offer a regional perspective to the initiative of the new silk roads and its pendent, the indo-pacific axis,
    • Encourage scholarly analysis of regional issues in a way that will advance common understanding of current challenges and proposed responses.

    • The Council on Pacific Affairs mission is to build the vast potential of the Pacific Region for impact on regional issues, discourse, and policy. We strive to represent the range of the Pacific Region policies interests and perspectives and cultivate an informed and civically engaged membership that contributes at local, national, and regional levels.
    • The Council on Pacific Affairs work leads to a stronger pacific regional culture of international engagement and improved policy formation and implementation in key issue areas.
    • To conduct in-depth policy research that contributes towards policy solutions in the Pacific on governance, strategy and security sectors though partnership platforms and advocacy.
